Submissions Guidelines
Korean Journal of Religious Education
1. Manuscript Preparation
1) Manuscripts should be written in HWP format, the latest version.
2) Manuscripts conform to standards as outlined in “Submission Templates” which is provided by KJRE.
3) Once accepted, manuscripts will undergo standard copy editing by the journal’s editorial staff. In order to maintain the unity of the journal, as needed, without agreements regarding revision, modification, or supplementation concerning the content of the submitted manuscript can be reached.
4) Only Korean should be used for the title and text of the manuscripts. If there is a possibility of confusion in meaning, insert Chinese characters or the original language inside ( ).
5) Foreigners' names or other proper nouns are written in Korean first. Chinese characters or original words are placed inside ( ).
6) Only use colons ( : ) to create subheadings, and do not use hyphens ( - ).
7) The author’s names in English are written as Gildong Hong, not Gil Dong Hong, GilDong Hong, Gil-Dong Hong, Gil-dong Hong, etc.
8) The first page should be included as follows in English: the title of the manuscript; author's name and affiliation; abstract (1,000~1,500 words) and key words (5~8); acknowledgment; submission date; corresponding author; open access, etc. It should be written within one page.
9) For acknowledgment, write the text required by the research support organization.
10) The second page should be included as follows in Korean: the title of the manuscript; author's name and affiliation; abstract (600~800 letters) and key words (5~8); acknowledgment; submission date; corresponding author, etc. It should be written within one page.
11) When indicating the author's affiliation and status, the author's status must be divided into professors, research fellows (researchers), and graduate students.
(1) “Professor” includes assistant professors, associate professors, professors, guest professors, visiting professors, research professors, HK professors, etc. Example: Professor at OO University
(2) “Research Fellow or Researcher” includes senior research fellows (researchers), senior research fellows (researchers), and full-time research fellows (researchers). Example: Research Fellow (researcher) at OO Research Institute
(3) “Graduate students” includes master’s students, doctoral students, and integrated master’s and doctoral students. Example: graduate student at OO University, OO Graduate School,
(4) In the case of graduate students, “doctoral course completion” is not indicated.
12) The total length of the manuscript should be within 16 pages based on the submission template file, and it cannot exceed 20 pages. If there are more than 16 pages, an additional fee of 10,000 won must be paid for each page exceeding 16 pages.
13) Manuscripts should be written based on the style of APA (American Psychological Association).
2. Serial Numbers of Structure
Chapter title : Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ ……
Subhead : 1, 2, 3 ……
Second-Level Subhead : 1), 2), 3) ……
Third-Level Subhead : (1), (2), (3) ……
Forth-Level Subhead : ①, ②, ③ ……
3. Citations
1) A short sentence or phrase directly quoted is enclosed in double quotation marks on the main text.
2) A quotation of three more sentences is placed below the preceding line, set left and right 15pt indented, with a line space before and after the quotation.
3) The source of the quotation is clarified in parentheses after the quotation.
Example)
~ (Hong, 2021: 25-26).
~ (Hong, Kim, Park, 2021: 25-26).
~ (Hong et al., 2021: 25-26).When two or more authors of different publications have the same surname, the first names are spelled out.
Example)
~ (Gildong Hong, 2021: 25-26).
~ (Gidong Hong, 2020: 112-117).4) If there is more than a single author, list all up to three. For more than four authors, only the name of the first is used, followed by “et al.” Example in Korean: “OOO 외” Example in English: OOO et al.
4. Footnotes
1) A footnote is used to only expound on a part of the main text.
2) The footnote number appears in the main text as a superscript after a period, comma, or quotation mark at the noted part. The content of each footnote is placed at the bottom of the corresponding main text page.
5. Tables and Figures
1) A Serial number should be given to tables and figures.

2) Below the title of tables and figures in Korean, the caption in English is written together.
3) The title of the table is above the table.
4) The title of the figure is just below the figure.
5) Tables and figures should be clearly drawn in to allow a reprint of the original text.
6. References
1) References start on a new, independent page.
2) For Korean books without an English title, it is written first in Korean, and English is added after changing the line.
3) Journal articles and dissertations and theses must be written in English only.
4) Books : the author name (year of publication). Title. Place of issue: name of the publisher.
(1) Even more than four authors, all of them should be listed in the references.
(2) In the case of books written by several authors, the authors’ name and title are written first, followed by the main author and title of the book.
5) Translations : Original author name. Original title. Translator name (year of publication). Title. Place of issue: name of the publisher.
6) Journal Articles : The author name (year of publication). Title of the article. Title of the journal, Volume(Number), the number of pages.
7) Dissertations and Theses : The author name (year of publication). Title. OO University, PhD diss. or Master’s thesis.
