Aims and Scope

Korean Journal of Religious Education (KJRE) is indexed in the Korea Citation Index (KCI).

KJRE aims to advance the study of religions, their diversity of thought, culture and education that historically spread over all parts of the world. In addition, KJRE endeavors to expand the diverse voices and perspectives in the academic study of religious education by featuring research from all parts of the world. In particular, it seeks to introduce scholarly investigations from Korean newly risen religions outside the traditional centers of religious study in Asia and the West. In the spirit of expanding the study of religions, KJRE highly encourages research articles that explore new perspectives and methods while not disregarding the long and rich tradition of religious studies.

The scope and interests of KJRE include:

historical and current cultural manifestations of religions in diverse forms
new educational research on religious doctrine, philosophy, and philology in their cultural contexts
exchange and comparison of ideas and views on religion across cultures and regions
social issues and applications of religion to new challenges faced by humanity
encounter with new cultural and religious forces and inter-religious dialogue

We welcome submissions of original research including proposals for special issue publications fitting to the scope and interests of the journal. Moreover, reviews of English and non-English books, films, and other published works on education about religions are accepted. IJBTC is published quarterly in February, May, August, and December. We accept submissions throughout the year.

Submission and Peer Review Policy

All submitted articles considered for publication are subject to anonymous triple peer review. The KJRE editorial board takes the liberty, in consultation with the authors, to edit the style and content of the article to fit the standards and criteria of KJRE.

Founding of Korean Association for Religious Education

Since our establishment in 1995, the Korean Association for Religious Education has continued to develop and grow academically. In the early days, it was mainly academic activities that focused on religious education, which was conducted as a field education in schools. Recently, we have expanded the field of interest of our society to conduct a wide range of theoretical inquiry activities that relate social and practical issues such as life, peace, environment, unification, and multi-cultural coexistence to religion and education. In the future, our society will continue to fulfill its role and function as an academic community where we study together on academic topics that can help us grow spiritually.
