The Praxis of Social Reformation of ‘Ki’ in the Context of Korean History and the Minjoong Theology

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE The purpose of this study is to relate to the Minjoong theology by looking back from the Shilla dynasty period to the realistic school which Ki thinkers had the basic ideas of Ki’s movement of matter in the universe and nature of the Ki, and seeing that they had survived as social transformers speakig for the Minjoong.CONTENTS In Korean history, Ki thinkers have suffered the hardship of being excluded and exiled from participating in the reality of oppressing and exploiting farmers and slaves by Ki's corrupt ruling powers. Then, in the late Joseon Dynasty, realistic scholars asserted the reform of the civil rights throughout the economy, national defense, education, science, land, slavery on the base of Ki, and became the center of Korean history.RESULTS This study examined that Minjoong theology practiced human rights and social reform movements for the Minjoong including labor workers and farmers against dictatorships. I think it is important to have a conversation with Ki's reform idea. I expect that Mingoong theologians take on the extention of dialogue.
