A Study on the Necessity of Death Education from an Anthroposophical Perspective

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE The purpose of this study is to discuss the necessity of death education from an anthroposophical point of view. It is to find the interface between anthroposophy and death science through research on the subject, and to explore how it should be recognized and dealt with in terms of education.CONTENTS To accomplish this study intends to explore the perception of death and educational methods through anthroposophy, which explores human wisdom. The reason is that finding the connection between anthroposophy, which aims for a holistic human being, and deathology based on the dignity of human existence, and attempting a mutual approach is the basis for understanding life and death.RESULTS As a result the conclusion of this study is as follows. First, it aims to ‘become a human being with dignity’. Second, to recognize ‘life and death as a process’. Third, ‘structuring through education’ is necessary. If a new research area can be derived by developing the three propositions pursued in common by the disciplines of anthroposophy and death studies, I hope that the results of this study will be better than the present ones, and I hope that this study will be a small starting point. Expectations are the direction of this study.
