Development of character education program for early childhood teachers based on the Four Noble Truths

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to develop a character education program for early childhood teachers based on the Four Noble Truths.CONTENTS First, the literature review and previous research were analyzed, and an expert group interview was conducted. Afterwards, Delphi survey were conducted three times and preliminary study were conducted for a group of experts to verify the validity of the contents of the draft plan. Through this series of processes, the program structure and action plan were finally derived.RESULTS This early childhood teacher character education program has the validity of a series of procedures and processes for program development. In addition, it can be seen that the practical research area of religious education has been expanded and deepened in that the value of the Four Noble Truths, the core idea of Buddhism, was grafted into the contents and method of character education for early childhood teachers. Accordingly, it can be said that the possibility of using it as a character education program for teachers in the Buddhist community as well as in the general early childhood education field has increased.
