Religious Character and Education of Confucianistic Rite Music

ABSTRACT

Confiician ritual music made by Chukong, Chu Dynasty is representative of Confiician thoughts, including humanity and justice.Family is the centered focus on Confliciamsm， and that leads the ritual, worship of ancestor. According to this point, Chinese are used to get devout faiths and rites about pedigree and ancestors’ spirit.There are several approaches on the religious character of Confiician ritual music.Substantially, Confiician rite music has the religious character as much as ritual arts. ConRicianist takes CJiian and Chi^ Kwi and Sin as existential foundation, and then pursues the unity of them.The religious and educational faculties of Confiician rite music are not different. Their rites that worship Ch'ian and Chi and ancestors, drive people to desirable one. Confiician thoughts, through rite music, try to combine Ooian and people, people and gods. Then like this religious side take unity between politics and educational ethics. Also recovering one's right nature allowed from Goian, it makes possible cognition of human beings' origin. It is, of course, its educational function.
