There is nothing new in these questions but they do seem to take on a added urgency today with the particular demands of our times and the challenges of today s apostolate in religious education. The entire work of the religious educator has to be situated in the context of faith for above all we are engaged in a ministry of faith. School education is an art, and an especially difficult one. The task of religious education is really a matter of public emergency what does a great deal for virtue is love. Because the basic hindrance to religious life is egoism and the chief yearning of religious life liberation from one self, and only love, being the gift of oneself is able to remove this hindrance and bring this yearning to fulfillment. Many things are good in the emphasis on action for life consists of action. But action aim at on object, a determining end without which they lose direction and vitality. A guidance principle of Catholic school aims at the formation of the human person in the pursuit of his ultimate end and of the good of the societies of which, as man, he is member, and in whose obligations, as an adult, he will share.
