Task and Prospect of Teaching materials on Religion

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to present the task and prospect of textbook developed for religious education in secondary schools and teacher training program in university. More concretely, task and prospect of textbook on Religion. I easily acknowledged that textbook on Religion developed for secondary education after 2002 more focused on religious evangelian missionary work or indoctrination than intrinsic religious education as cultural subject in secondary schools. Of course compared than before, revised textbooks after 2002 developed according to 7th national Curriculum in secondary schools, but still remain a perspective which is a specific religious defence attitude and rather balanced inclusiveness than exclusiveness. However there are some consideration on students interest, in the process of text book development, it should be reconsidered the process of authorization on textbook Religion organized parent and community members, expert etc. Based on above some tasks, I like to present some prospect for future development of textbook development as follows. First, it shoed be changed the viewpoint of religious education in secondary schools. Second, Through the reorganization of committee as a pan-religious order for the development of textbook, it should be cope with free publication system in future, and it could be rebirth a new textbook worthy of name contained better understanding between religions, more balanced contents. Finally could be recommend the basic textbook related in teacher education program in order to prepare for the better textbook development in future, take an example “Subject matter on Religion, Teaching & Learning method in Religion” etc.
