A Study on the Modeling of Autonomous Supervision for the Buddhist Infant Teacher

ABSTRACT

This study researches the recognition of teachers who work in the buddhist infant institutes on autonomous supervision and their needs for the modeling of buddhist autonomous supervision based on the Buddhism. The goal is, first to establish exemplary teacher in the buddhist infant institutes. Second, this study provides teachers of new understanding for autonomous supervision which could develope their professionalism and enhance quality of teaching. Third, this study suggests the method of buddhist autonomous supervision, framing around the buddhist curriculum, Four All-embracing(bodhisattva) Virtues(Catu-sagraha-vastu), the Noble Eightfold Paths, teaching according to the capacities of the sentient beings, and Six Pramits.We conducted a questionnaire survey of teachers who have worked for 40 buddhist infant institutes in Seoul(9 kindergartens, 31 childcare centers) by sending them inquiry mails. And we collected 280 questionnaires and used them for the analysis. As a result, the outcome shows the need of buddhist autonomous supervision that could help develope the teachers as a instructor in the buddhist infant institutes. As well, we concludes it would be necessary, most of all, to model the buddhist autonomous supervision in order to support the buddhist education.
