The religious intuition as an educational awareness

ABSTRACT

This research is to investigate the educatioal significance of religious intuition. Religious experience can be considered as an educational one which makes possible the integral awareness and leads to transpersonal being. It will change the goal of education from self-realization to self-transcendence. The intuition as a religious experience toward self-transcendence means awakening the direct and immediate recognition. It transcends the words and ego because words-mediated recognition is logical, analytic, and conceptual that is limited as an abstract and ideological boundary. In this way, religious intuition is the direct-awakening leading to revelation and conversion that overcomes the dual-system like subject-object, part-whole and in-out. The educational character of religious intuition is as follow:First, religious intuition is a form of educational experience. It will overcome the classical concept of education that has been intellectual or moral one.Second, religious intuition is related to the ultimate intention of education. It will be the beginning of the modern educational problem overlooking the ultimate thing of life and education.Third, religious intuition is essentially self-transcendental experience. We can have the educational significance of transcendental being from escaping the ego-centric self concept.
