The Identity of Korean and the Religious Education of Cheondogyo

ABSTRACT

This manuscript, in meeting the 21C of the new millenium, presupposes that the system of civilization in future and the leading assumption of the world will be originated in Donghak(東學: The East Learning).The contradiction of state in the divided Korea and the problems of the political orthodoxy can and should be enlightened on the foundation of the Donghak in order to accomplish the self-sustaining peaceful unification and even the construction of the new civilization. With this meaning this theme was chosen.So to speak in the korean Donghak Thought(東學思想) the creative attempt of this article is put pursuing the leadership guiding to the optimistic future. In the religious education of the recovering the Korean identity this letter, with the subtitle of the Donghak and the ‘on civilization , is outlining the thoughtful features of the Donghak.In other words, through Donghak Thought the korean nationalism will be built and the ideal of the unification of two Koreas. can be completed. On the other hand, furthermore even with Donghak beyond the western materialistic civilization the new civilization will be emerged as a alternative with the Eastern spiritual civilization in the process of the transformation of civilization developing newly.As a result, this article emphasizes that not only the political ideology of the new integrating state, but also the alternative of the thought by the new civilization will become the goals and can be attained with researching for the idea of Korean Donghak.
