Politics and Religious Education

ABSTRACT

The social function of the religion is closely with politics, because the former establishes the meaning and value of the society, maintains the social order, and strengthens the tradition.In the unsecularized pre-modern society, the religion is the foremost authority, and the religious power was strong to compete with the military power. The religion, as the co- ordinator to give value to the society to form the order, persuades the legitimacy and the validity with unviolating religious authority instead of the violence used to form the order and the compulsim nessesary to maintain the order.Here we can find the ideological function of religion. This is the theocracy which does politics with the religioous principle, and this means that the religion plays the most big social function.But through the secularized process, the result of the social divertion was oblized to disrupt the combination of the religion and politics. Accordingly the religion has the occasions that playes the reactionary role, if the religion does not play the new political movement. This is the reason why we call the religion conservative generally.
