A Study of Vāsanā In Education

ABSTRACT

Education always make premise the understanding what the human beings is. It is Vāsanā(薰習) that elucidates how to be consituted opinions and knowledges of the human beings, to transfer and reform through Buddhist philosophy. We could understand and elucidate the sight of understanding of that human beings is on the conceptual approach of Vāsanā. So, I tried to get a new scope for setting up the desirable educational orientation, which can be possible on the understanding of what is the human being, on Buddhist philosophy of Vāsanā. Buddhist philosophy is regarded that human being's creativity and subjectivity is the only power we can attain freedom and peace from. As the consitution of opinions and knowledges can be possible through human being's own Vāsanā. Power and the authority of outer object are nothing but teacher's assistance is the critical factor in Buddhist philosophy, which can be elucidated by Vāsanā. So I want to make clear the educational meaning of Vāsanā in Buddhist philosophy, and to try to cast a new scope and sequence what education does for realizing humanity in the contemporary society what is called generlly the period of the lost of humanity.
