ABSTRACT

The Chuntae(天台) thought has the view of the world of unity. It shows the important ideas as Ilnyum-samchun(一念三千) that a momentary think includes all existence. All existence is divided to three according to mind. They are Sunya(空), entity(假), and middle way(中), and they are integrated one another. The reality of all existence is endowed with not only pure true-form but also evil-form. That is to say, the real form is endowed with operation of mind and primary importance at the same time. Samyung-Jilye(960-1028) as Chinese philosopher of Chuntaehak(天台學) criticized the philosophers of the SanOepa(山外派), and they went into a dispute each other. The philosophers of SanOepa was criticized by Samyung-Jilye, because they insisted only pure true-form. In the Chuntae(天台) thought the truth of world is endowed with Sunya(空), entity(假), and middle way(中), and they are united things. Also both pure true-form and evil-form have the being of the whole and an individual object in phenomenal mind of a momentary. The each of human mind is world. Zen thought has emphasized of pure mind and of when we are spiritually awakened, we remove false knowledge. But The Chuntae thought has emphasized of entity which has not only pure, beauty, goodness but also dirty, badness, evil. For instance, when the phenomenon of waves return the see, the see includes all phenomenon of thing. The see is whole entity and is formed individual phenomenon. At that time the individual phenomenon and whole entities are non-substance. we and the world are continuously coming into being and extinction. So The View of the World in ChunTai Thought is actual and unified.
