Origin of ‘Religion Principle in Don Bosco s Preventive Education

ABSTRACT

We discussed the origins of Don Bosco s thoughts on Religion principle with respect to the Preventivie Education and its three fundamental principles, Reason , Loving Kindness and Religion . We studied the great influences of his mother in his youth through the practices of prayer , confession , communion , and Maria faith which were reflected in the educational method of the Oratorio .The experiences of the Societa dell allegria in the Chieri Seminary period developed toward religious education with cheerful sports, picnic and music in the preventive education practices of the Oratorio. Finally we considered the Saint Francesco Salesio as the model of loving kindness and tenderness, as the origin of Don Bosco s thoughts on religous education, and also as the source of the spirituality, of the Oratorio and the Salesian Order.
