A study on the Development of Essay - Type Question Items and a Teaching Capability Evaluation Item for Appointment Examination of the Teachers of Religion

ABSTRACT

This article is part of a joint study on appointment examination of the teachers of religion at the secondary schools. The purpose of this study on the teacher appointment examination system is as follows. The first is going to improve the validity and the fairness of making questions. The second is going to improve the objectivity and the reliability of marking examination papers. I discussed essay-type question items as an evaluation tool first. I tried to understand generally an essay-type question items and discussed for making and marking them. I exemplified also essay-type question items. I discussed a question item for teaching capability evaluation next. It is a kind of performance assessment.
