ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research was to explain the psychological meaning of ‘Mind Practice’ of Won-Buddhism that is behind bars of religion paradigm. Especially, the basic principle and counseling method of ‘Mind Practice’ have something in common with the cognition-behavior Therapy. The cognitive therapy’s basic opinion is “The change of cognition can change emotion and behavior.” Equally, ‘Mind Practice’ emphasize that the change of ‘the mind of discrimination and attachment can be the tranquility(wisdom, precepts). And ‘The Mind of Discrimination and Attachment’ is the same concept of ‘Irrational belief’ by Ellis and ‘Cognitive schema and distortion’ by Beck. Especially, ABCDE of the main council method of REBT is nearly same method of ‘Mind Practice’. Also, the ‘Dispute’ and ‘Socrates’ Dialogue’ methods of cognition therapy are equal to the ‘Questions-answers and appraisal’, one of the course of ‘Mind Practice’. Consequently, above mentioned, it will be a foundation of generalization the counseling program ‘Mind Practice’ as ‘Cognition-Emotion-Behavior’ program to ascertain ground of psychological theory.
