The Multi-cultural Society and Protestant Christian Education

ABSTRACT

In this article, I introduced categories and contents of the religious education which are corresponding to the needs of multi-cultural changes of the Korean society. The notion of ‘religious education’ of multicultralism has to be formed into the two dimensions, ‘inter’ religious dialogue among different religions and ‘in’ each religious aspect. My writing is focused on the latter perspective insisting the function of Protestant churches and believers that are existing the multi-cultural Korean society. The changes of multi-cultural, multiracial, and multireligious have challenged to the religious world to analyze social reality and to keep its healthy transformation. In this perspective, as a Protestant Christian educator, I have proposed educational purpose and contents, explained the current situation of multi-cultural ministry, and suggested the roles of Christian education for the multi-cultural Korean society based upon the teachings from the Bible and the polity of the Presbyterian Church of Korea.
