A Study on The Way of Personal Practice in Terms of Dae-soon Thought’s Theory of Doe-Tong

ABSTRACT

Human being is a creature with desire. Since finitude of human being and the sense of futility caused by it, is inevitable. There are attempts to overcome these ‘destiny’. The desires for self-preservation, honor, possession, power and sexual desire. These are few of examples for desire which drives our lives. Many disciplinants also have desires. However their desires slightly differ from norman people. Disciplinants desire seek the truth. The disciplinants of Daesoon thoughts also have a great desire. And that also is to seek the true path. If we translate the word ‘desire’ in terms of Daesoo thoughts, it is called ‘Won’(冤). So the main sentiment which Daesoon thoughts disciplinants have is the ‘Won’ to seek the truth. In Daesoon thoughts the truth is ‘Hae-Won’(解冤). The fulfillment of desire. The state of ‘Doe-Tong’(道通) is understanding all the truth of universe, and that can be done by everyone to try their best to seek the truth. Thus the ‘Won’ can not be created by not being able to reach the state of ‘Doe-Tong’(道通). This shows the ‘Limit of Past-world’ and points out the fact about ‘Won’ that is created by not reaching the ‘Doe-Tong’. This proves us that the principle of ‘Hae-Won’ is applied to ‘Doe-Tong’
