Religious General Education Activation Plan

ABSTRACT

The objective of this preliminary research study is to investigate possible measures to implement religious education in school and society. The target audience of this research totaled 1,048 (793 students, 255 instructors) and questionnaires were implemented as well as 11 researchers related to religious education. Based on the preliminary research findings, the following results were established on how to revitalize religious general education. First, in cases where religious general education in schools have an inadequate interior and exterior environment, it is not only difficult to manage and open a regular curriculum, but also in terms of extracurricular activities in schools established by religions, there is a limit on choices for students over irregular activities such as religious observances. Second, not only does institutional supplementation of textbooks related to religious education and teacher training need to be considered, but in terms of management, there also needs to be a restructuring and improvement in showing its actual utilization. Third, although it is necessary to supplement appropriate legal regulatory constraints relevant to religious education, this enforcement is rather insignificant when applied on site. Therefore, effort needs to be made to bridge the gap between actuality and the setting up of legal regulatory constraints. Fourth, according to the questionnaire results and research, consideration needs to be paid to access to the diversification, open selection, media of programs related to creative experience and character education through revitalizing religious general education. Fifth, In order to revitalize religious general education appropriate participation and involvement from the nation, local government, religious order, school, instructor, parents of students is required. Finally, religious education (religious general education) from the level of civic education is central government and local government, through the development and operation of a liberal arts education, and cultural and artistic programs, continuing education at all levels of the institution is possible.
