The Design and Task of Program in Mind Study:Focusing on the Donghak(東學)

ABSTRACT

Donghak(東學) is representative traditions of Korean religion. It is unique of our study. Such as the revolutionary of Donghak peasants, the movement of patriotic enlightenment, and the March First movement and temporary government of the independence, July Tenth manse-movement, Shinganhoe(新幹會) movement, etc., Donghak was life-peace movement and to be subject of history against the modern imperial hegemony. Each of the times and ever-changing, Donghak include and exclude the traditional and the modern spirit and grow to new civilization. Tradition is not passed the original shape but to be the circular shift by variety of forces and vibrant flow. This study is experimental studies to design the program of mind study in Donghak. I organized the minds of Donghak as ultimate spirit: Youngbusim(靈符心), Wiwisim(为为心), body-mind(身心), Heogwangsim(虚光心), Yoyosim(如如心), Jayousim(自由心). I also reconceptualize them to the modern concepts and I linked the different mind-study of the Korean tradition and I attempted integration with them across the East and the West of the modern times. Also I designed the program of the mind study though the Donghak focus on Mantra(呪文), Mind pray(心告), SusimJungki(守心正氣), etc.. I combined the each of these studies with modern methods of meditation to configure the program of mind study.
