New Vision for Religious Education of Daesoonjinrihoi

ABSTRACT

‘World Christian Encyclopedia’ by Oxford university press showing that 84% of people all around the globe is related to organized religion proves the fact that now we are worthy of the name ‘Homo religiosus’. Every religion aims to achieve peaceful world. However, behind many bright features of religion remains religious conflict in domestic and international terms. For this the disbelief of religion continues to arise. Although the demography shows the fact that 8 out of 10 people believe in religion, continuous rise of disbelief is enough to demand for reformation and introspection of every religion. Suggesting a new vision in terms of religion shows that religion is in critical situation and it must self-examine itself to reform itself. This article aims to determine a new vision for Dae-Soon. This article, tries to figure out the new vision by analyzing the ‘nature of religion’. It means that religions must stand for their true nature. Current status of religion has been modified too much from its original nature and thus is loosing it true form. To accomplish this goal, the educative nature of Dae-Soon was revised in correlation to ‘Study of Religious Education’ in order to determine ‘being faithful to the fundamentals’, then it was applied to religious education in field. The fundamental of religion is sacrifice, service, charity and sharing. In easy words it is ‘to help others achieve more’. It is time that one must rightfully define the relationship between man and the absolute being. One must sublate oneself from believing in the absolute being for one’s own benefit, as the absolute being is there to reorganize the order of cosmos. In this term, the correct belief is to understand the religious utopia, which the founder had sought for and that is the way that religion can recover it’s true form.
