Posthuman ‘epimeleia-heautou’ through Virtual Somatization

ABSTRACT

Post-humanism, or the development of technological civilization, is approaching a time when non-human actors are pressing our daily lives in all directions. Contrary to the active machinery, the situation of the modern man who is suffering from the helplessness gradually needs a religious alternative which can revive his self-care for the new age. In the era of post-humanism, human beings who have already become cyborgs need religious reflection and training about new ontology which is separate from the religiosity of humanism that clearly distinguishes between oneself and others. This article presents the alternative possibility of Confucianism, which has a distributed religious character, while illuminating the new possibility of self-care of secularized religiousness such as the virtual body narrative.
