Christian Education for the Restoration of Faith Community and Spirituality: with a Focus on Youth Education

ABSTRACT

This study pays attention to the severity of fragmentation and disintegration in which Korean society as well as youths are situated. As an effort to find an alternative or at least a corrective to this situation this study inquires about the restoration of faith community and spiritual vitality. This inquiry lays an emphasis on youths and Christian education for youths so that it may provide more potential for the future of Korea and Korean churches since youths are the representative next generation. In order to accomplish the objectives of this study, it will proceed its investigation according to the following steps. First, it will investigate the necessity and importance of faith community. Second, it will inquire the importance of prayer and repentance for the spiritual restoration. This will be based upon the dynamic principle operant in Pyongyang Great Awakening Movement. Third, the dynamism of koinonia will be explored for the spiritual restoration of youths. Fourth, ways toward spiritual empowering of youths will be suggested based upon large scale worship and small group biblical meditation. Fifth, providing of mentoring and training group experiences for youths will be included. Sixth, mission fields and sharing communities for youths will be discussed and developed. At the same time proliferation of caring as well as sharing communities for youths will be suggested for the reciprocal cooperation and challenge among youths. Lastly, a crucial alternative to the drawbacks of the status quo will be provided based upon experiences and wisdom proper through sharing and mutual cooperation between current generation and next generation.
