A Study on the New Model of Brain-Based Christian Education

ABSTRACT

During the past decade the neurological(cognitive) science has made significant progress. Recent work in neuroscience provides new neurological/biological and evolutionary bases for understanding the nature of the human brain. The field has recently received a lot of attention from various academic circles like philosophy of mind, educational neuroscience (i.e. neuro-education, brain-based learning science), and Christian education, etc. In the case of Christian education, especially, brain-based theories are providing useful insights concerning the overall characteristics of the teacher and the learner in an active learning environment, and pedagogical learning-teaching techniques. In order to provide a new model of brain-based Christian education, this article suggests a brief overview of several existing brain-based models(TBS, TBSC, CIMT) respectively, reviews central notions regarding the functions and structures of the brain, and seeks the implications of the brain research. In conclusion, this article suggests a new model of brain-based Christian education(student, content, learning environment) and a four step process of resting, analysing, synthesizing, and acting. Also the future prospects and limitation of this article are discussed.
