Issue and Task on Subject Matter Education of “Religion” in the Revised Secondary School Curriculum of korea in 2015

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper will provide the basic material focused on character, system of it’s content, organization and it’s operation of the revised Secondary School Curriculum of Korea in 2015, especially related with it’s Issue and Task of Subject Matter education, “Religion”. Result and suggestion in this study are as follows, First, Character of Subject Matter education, “Religion” in 2015 revised Secondary School Curriculum, even coming up it’s Reflective Religious Education Mode and core capacity in revised national curriculum, yet it has a lot of issues: set up to cater to high school student, remaining specific religious content, identity of subject matter compared with the other neighboring subject matte(eg:Moral education, Social studies), clarification of core capacity, possibility of realization to high school student etc. Second, In system of curriculum about Religion leave room for debate issues: Consistency with introduction and detailed sub-contents of curriculum, objectives, achievement level, evaluation, overlapping with the other subject matter. Third, there are still some tasks to be solved: difficulties on applying of it to high school, optimum period of developing the curriculum, justification of curriculum development model depending upon top-down model. For raising up the possibility of it’s applying to high school students, some suggestions are as follows. First, for the development of curriculum I’d like to recommend the partnership model cooperated with professional academic association, parents, teachers, religious order than depending upon individual researcher or public subscription. Second, it should be build up infra-structures. Finally it also need to establish the long-mid term development plan for the development of curriculum based on bottom-up model.
