ABSTRACT
Modern Society is characterized as “fatigue society” in which people are caught up with result oriented and work obsessed mentality. People endlessly exploit themselves. As a result, their inner self was fragmented and lost. Originally holistic but it is shattered and needs to be recovered. In order to heal the self image that is wounded, family, church, school need to find an effective teaching-learning method. This research is performed to search possibility whether the flipped learning promote integrity of self. The flipped learning is known as an effective tool that can prepare learners to think about the subject matter at home and deal with the issue in class with classmates through discussion in small groups. This group discussion encourages learners and help them earn knowledge and wisdom that are participatory, responsible, and communal. They learn to respect fellow students and in the process they mutually learn that epistemological subject and object eventually acknowledge and cooperate one another through flipped learning. As far as health of the inner holistic self is concerned, Freudian psychology usually cling onto the past trauma and blame it for not being successful at present time. This deterministic view must be thrown away since individual can and must make her/his own present life without blaming the past hurts according to Alfred Adler. He calls his theory as individual psychology because individual is a holistic being and also every individual is and must develop social instinct that we are all connected and responsible for the wellbeing of others as a whole. Our life style and attitude that make a responsible choice for society in the spirit of love and cooperation will ultimately be a way and academic foundation for building inner holism. With flipped learning as teaching method and Adler’s individual psychology as a theoretical foundation, we can overcome the fear of being the victims of the fatigue society. We will find a better way of learning truths through flipped learning and establish a better self image through Adler’s psychology. These two distinctive academic disciplines are used in a trans-disciplinary way in order to find a better working solution for the modern problems. Both flipped learning and Adler’s theory will enhance the process of building integrity (holistic self) and contribute to regain dignity as human which is the purpose of Christian education.
