A Study on the Students Perception of Online Writing Class in College

ABSTRACT

This study examines the experience and satisfaction of lectures for new students at D University, who took the <Writing 1> lecture through a non-face-to-face online lecture method. To achieve this goal, we conducted a qualitative and quantitative survey of 206 students of Writing 1 at D University. As a result of the quantitative survey, first, the students of Writing 1 positively judged the non-face-to-face online <Writing 1> lecture in the first semester of the 20th year. Next, for non-face-to-face online class methods, the preference between recording video lectures and real-time video lectures was not clearly divided. The results of the qualitative survey showed a clear preference for recorded lectures. They also expressed the burden of being given assignments in every classes. The results of this study are expected to help improve the way universities conduct non-face-to-face online lectures in the subject of writing, a common liberal arts subject.
