Essay on Exploring the direction of ‘Self-Education’ and ‘Ego problem’

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to explore the direction that self-educational should pursue. To this end, the reason for searching self education was presented, and the self-view that was dealt with in holistic education and Buddhist education was compared and analyzed. The reason for the comparison between these two educations is that they have a common point that the Sati Meditation method can be used in education in terms of educational methodology. Research contents are, based on these discussions, it was suggested that “self-education” should proceed to “education for me by myself” by dividing it into three stages in contrast with the learned Samsung theory. A brief proposal of the meaning and direction of self-education is as follows. ① ‘Education of me’ can be regarded as a stage corresponding to the convocation of the Byeonggye. At this stage, it is emphasized that self-education must go in the direction of being able to realize the self-education and individuality → In the end, it emphasizes the need to move toward self-awareness on the selflessness. ② ‘Education by me’ is a stage that corresponds to self-reliance, but here it emphasizes independence and autonomy (self-directedness) → It means self-education in the sense of letting people realize non-twoness in the end. ③ ‘Education for me’ is the stage of original sincerity. Here, through reflective thinking, understand the meaning of interrelationships and causality, restore publicity, sociality, and ethics → advance to a correct understanding and practice of spirituality, pratītyasamutpāda and emptiness Is to do. In conclusion, it can be seen that holistic education starts from the self-view that the self (I)can be accommodated and included in the cosmos. Buddhist education in the sense that the Sati meditation method (knowing meditation method) is the main method of practicing Buddhism takes the position of a self-view that the self (I) is the whole and the whole can be identified with me (the self). I can understand. This means that the whole (cosmos) and the part (self) can be connected as one and eventually result in one (一元). Self-education also has a similarity with the previous two educational theories in that it is possible to achieve personal and spiritual growth to the spiritual realm of transcendence through the use of the Sati meditation method. However, self-education is different from the previous two education in that it begins with the self (I) as the center. Therefore, I am confident that self-education has enough potential to become an alternative to new education in the future.
